What is PM Surya Ghar Yojana?

Launched by the Government of India in February 2024, the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana is a landmark scheme that provides direct financial subsidy for residential rooftop solar installations. The mission: install rooftop solar on 1 crore Indian homes by 2027.

Subsidy Amount (2024-25)

The subsidy is capped at 3 kW for residential systems: • Up to 1 kW: ₹30,000 • Up to 2 kW: ₹60,000 • 3 kW and above: ₹78,000 (max)

Who is Eligible?

Any Indian citizen owning a residential property with a valid electricity connection. The property must be your own — tenants cannot apply directly. Both individual homes and housing societies can benefit.
